"A Place To Die" - Asmodeus Trahern & Jaikari
"My time has ended. Leave me," he whispered. His bones ached. There was little strength left in him. He could feel mother earth pulling him back into her cold and loveless embrace.
"I would never leave," she said, nudging him warily with her nose, "You can fight this."
But he lowered himself to the ground, and heaved one final sigh before the shadows whisked his soul from his body.

This is a commission for Jahi of her character Asmodeus Trahern and his soul shadow, a coyote named Jaikari. After my last manipulation, I just felt like I had to make something much more dark- either in appearance and color or emotion, and I think I kind of accomplished both here. I read on his profile that this character is very afraid of becoming incapacitated or disabled, and thought it might be nice to do something. . . well, a bit like that. I had recently finished watching The Grey, also, and even though I didn't like the movie much at all I did like the spiel about the guy being happy to die in a pretty place. Those two things inspired this piece.
I had to do a lot of light changes for this one, but I enjoyed the challenge and it was a very fun piece to work on.
